Trees, or Not so Much?

We went to a garden nursery for the first time this spring. There weren't even annuals ready yet, and the rain beat hard on the greenhouse roof. Still, there are few outings I love more than plant shopping, and even though it was early, we still left with a few things. When we got to the tree section, however, I spotted something I have never seen before, and I couldn't help but laugh audibly and rush to grab my partner. There before me, was a line of euonymus trees!

Most of us know euonymus as an easy growing, mainly green and variegated shrub. It can handle trimming, it's fun to shape, and honestly one of my favorites. I have never, ever, seen it in tree form! Of course, it's not naturally tree-like, but has been trimmed, trained and grown specifically to resemble one. Honestly, I am here for it, and would love to see a mature one that's become larger and grown in. I am also curious what the maintenance is like, and how easy it will be to keep it "tree-like", so I did a little digging. Turns out, they must be new, because I could find little to no information on the "tree" version specifically. I definitely recommend asking the nursery you get it from, because even though euonymus are generally very easy to grow and maintain, I can see difficulty in keeping up the tree charade long term.
